Pulsation Dampeners Protect Pumps from Vibrations

Pulsation dampeners – also sometimes called surge suppressors – reduce vibrations and dampens excess noise from pumps. It does this by reducing the fluctuations of liquids on the discharge port of the pump, preventing water hammering and pressure spiking.

By reducing the wear and tear on pumps, pulsation dampeners keep pumps working longer, and help to reduce the likelihood of damage to lines and other parts caused by pulsation and pressure spiking. This results in a longer lasting, safer system; less downtime from pressure damage; and less cost. This also protects the gaskets and seals in the system, that can be damaged by pulsation. It also helps to improve pump system efficiency – pulsating flows can diminish accuracy, so a dampener insures a smooth, continuous fluid flow and metering accuracy.
